I have the question mark there because I'm not 100% positive if all of this post will fall under sports.
Anyway, for those of you who don't follow sports I will try to explain the best I can.
I'm a major Colts fan and have been for awhile. But this season is different, and I will tell you why in just a moment. Right now I just want to touch a little on how we got to where we are.
Our 2011 season was horrific to put it mildly. We ended the season 2-14. Never in my years as a Colts fan had I seen such a season as the one we had. With our star QB out for the season due to a neck surgery; we had to rely upon a secondary QB who had seen close to no NFL starts. But with that we secured the first round draft pick.
So during the off season the Colts organization basically cleaned house so to speak. Our star QB who had been with the team for 14 years left and signed with the Denver Broncos. Our head coach and General Manager were fired. Out with the old, in with the new.
For our first round draft pick the Colts drafted Stanford QB Andrew Luck, which was really no surprise because everyone had been talking about it. We got a new head Coach, Chuck Pagano former defensive coordinator for the Ravens. We have a new GM who has brought great talent to this team.
So now that you have a little bit of insight on how we got here, I will tell you why I love this team so much.
Rookie teams, no one ever really thinks they will get anywhere. They are always the underdog. But this team is continuing to prove critics wrong, with a 6-3 start and with most of their wins coming from behind and in the fourth quarter; they are also in a wildcard position for the Playoffs.
I don't just love this team because of their wins or because of their possible playoff spot. I love this team for their heart, and their determination. They play every week for their coach who is battling leukemia. They have shaved their heads to show support. They have a genuine love for their coach, and for each other.
And I will leave you with this:
No matter who you are no matter what you're doing; never ever let someone bring you down. Go out and fight with everything you have, prove your critics wrong. If this sports team can do it so can you.
Philippians 4:13
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

I personally find football intolerably dull (no offense to football fans)...but I love the end of the post! Athletes can and do bring glory to God, and I respect them for it. I just find sports boring to watch, unless I'm actually there in person.
ReplyDeleteNo offense taken, I just highly disagree.:)
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks, I'm glad you liked the end.
