the best potato soup. Ever

Hey there lovely readers! I thought I'd try doing something a little different with my blog. I was thinking that once a week I would share a recipe with you! Exciting, right? Well, I hope you will find it exciting; because I'm excited!

Anyway, today I thought I'd share a potato soup recipe with you. This is seriously the BEST recipe for potato soup - and I've tried a few. So, I hope you all will enjoy it as much as I do (:

Ingredients:
6-10 potatoes (6 cups)
6 cups of water
1 stalk of celery
5 pieces of Bacon
10 tbsp butter
10 tbsp flour
Cheese

Directions:

First, you're going to want to peel & rinse about 6 to 10 potatoes. If you have larger potatoes, I'd stick closer to the 6 & if you have smaller potatoes, go with about 10. Begin cutting them into bite sized pieces. You're going to want 6 cups of potatoes. Once you've got them cut, put them in a large pot & fill the pot with 6 cups of water. Put it on the stove and let it boil.

While your potatoes are boiling, begin cutting 1 stalk of celery & 5 pieces of bacon. Of course you can use more or less. If you don't like bacon, feel free to use ham. Put the celery and bacon (or ham) in a frying pan and let it cook. Keep the heat low so it doesn't burn!

Now, by this time, your potatoes should be boiling. Add 4 chicken bullion cubes. This adds a wonderful flavor to your soup.

In a separate pot, melt 10 tablespoons of butter. Once it's melted, add in 10 tablespoons of flour. Stir that together and add 4 cups of milk, slowly. While pouring the milk, make sure you're stirring it.  Adding the milk slowly will prevent clumping. Let that thicken. You don't want it to boil, so make sure to keep stirring, and you'll be able to tell when it has thickened.

Once it has thickened, pour it straight into the pot with the potatoes. Add in your bacon or ham and celery - be careful not to add the bacon grease. Add some cheese, and there you have it. The best potato soup!

This serves 6 people.

I hope you enjoy! Once you've tried it, let me know how you like it!
